Honda produces the simple and affordable Amaze compact exclusively for India. After introducing the second generation three years ago, it has now updated it to the latest spec.
The new Amaze boasts redesigned radiator grille and bumpers, new wheels, and assorted chrome trim pieces. More importantly, the middle trim level and above now ship with LED taillights, while the top trim uses LEDs for everything, including headlights and anti-fog lamps.
Aside from silvery plastic accents and some added chrome, the cabin stays untouched. Those who would like a 7-inch multimedia system still have to invest in the top trim, and second-row seats still make do with very basic integrated headrests instead of the real ones.
Nothing has changed in the powertrain department, either. The lineup starts with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated four-pot rated at 90 PS (89 hp / 66 kW) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque. There is also a 1.5-liter diesel whose power depends on the chosen transmission type. Going manual nets you 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft), while opting for a CVT drops the numbers to just 80 PS (79 hp / 59 kW) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft). The petrol engine mentioned above only supports manual.
