Honda Civic becomes history

Honda is wrapping up production of its Civic sedan due to exceedingly poor domestic sales. Only 1,619 units were sold in Japan in 2019, as opposed to 250,000 units of the N-Box Kei car.

This isn’t the first time Honda is pulling the plug on the Civic: the first time it decided to discontinue the model was in 2010. It then returned to the market with the 10th generation three years ago.

The Honda Civic and its “hot” version – the Type R – will only remain in production in Great Britain until time comes for a new generation.

The Civic range enjoys decent demand in the United States, so it might linger on that market for a bit after its global discontinuation.
