The 1984MY hatchback has no engine under the hood, but don’t rush to conclusions – pop open one of the doors instead. That’s right: where the rear seats used to be a 3.2-liter, six-cylinder Acura J32A2 unit resides now, supported by a custom subframe. Rear fender louvers supply it with air, while carpets cater for noise insulation. The former engine bay is currently occupied by the gas tank along with a modest-sized compartment for a spare wheel, a toolbox, and a spare battery.
Bring a Trailer currently sells the car, which is reported to be in excellent driving condition, for $35,500. With four days until the auction end, it may make sense to consider acquiring this one-off project.
