The Civic is quite a crowd favorite when it comes to tuning, with many conversions involving a switch from front-wheel drive to RWD or AWD. But this particular example is way more complex and interesting than the majority of builds out there. Care for a glance?
In the 10-minute video, Jimmy Oakes of Oakes Garage manages to tell almost the entire creation story of its Honda Civic EX 2000 drift car. The man started off by swapping it to a Nissan KA24 and boosting that engine to 257 hp (192 kW) along with 367 Nm (271 lb-ft) of max torque. He then borrowed numerous Nissan 240SX drivetrain components and parts that he had to weld, rivet and otherwise fit together. What impresses us the most is how he managed to restore the entire cabin after overhauling the transmission tunnel and then mask all seams and other signs of tinkering.
The result is a perfect drift vehicle capable of performing even the most challenging stunts and sustain itself in a state of controlled power-no drift. Not too shabby at all!
