This 2003 Civic costs more than its brand-new 2021 counterpart

A 17-year-old Honda Civic SiR is currently up for grabs on eBay, and its Canadian owner wants all of $22,000 USD for it – nearly a grand above the sticker price of a shiny new 2021 model.

The car has never changed hands, and the owner claims he took care not to drive it in wintertime, thus keeping the total mileage down to just 9,500 miles (15,300 kilometers). A quick search reveals that the well-preserved ride had already been put up on sale before for $16,000, but failed to sell with the highest bid only reaching $12,500.

The Honda Civic SiR (known in the USA as the Civic Si) draws its power from a 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The output amounts to 163 PS (160 hp / 120 kW). When the hatchback came out, it wasn’t considered particularly successful due to added weight, slower acceleration and McPherson struts coming to replace the old dual-wishbone suspension design at the front end, having a negative impact on steering.
