Honda has opened its pre-order books for the 11th-generation, five-door Civic hatchback. Live sales will begin in a month.
Customers in Japan are limited in their powertrain options: the only engine on offer right now is a 1.5-liter turbo rated at 182 PS (179 hp / 134 kW). You can obtain it with a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT with seven virtual gears in Sports mode. The drive stays on the front axle, and the car weighs in at 1,330 kg (2,932 lbs). Civic e:HEV and Type R versions are expected to arrive next year.
There are two trim versions to choose from: LX, which starts from ¥3.19 million, and EX, which begins at ¥3.54 million. Their pricing is independent from transmission type. Both include 18-inch wheels and LED-based high/low beams. Anti-fog LEDs are available at a premium.
Inside, the digital dashboard comes in two sizes – 7 and 10.2 inches. A single honeycomb mesh spanning the entire dash panel length conceals the air vents.
Rounding off the list is the Honda Sensing package, which in its most basic form includes a wide-angle front-facing camera and a video processing chip. The system monitors the distance from the vehicle ahead and hits brakes if there is a dangerous situation. Adaptive cruise control is also included.
