The 11th generation of the Honda Civic came out in November 2020, sporting a new exterior and cabin. Its hatchback variant debuted in 2021, and a power-boosted Si version came after it. Now, it is official that the model will be getting a new hybrid variant for Europe called the e:HEV this autumn.
It uses a 2.0-liter petrol engine and two electric motors: one to rotate the wheels, the other one to act as a power generator. The petrol engine mainly functions as a range extender, generating power for the traction battery on board, but automatically switches to driving the wheels when speed is required. In terms of performance, the whole system is manufacturer-estimated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) of torque. Fuel consumption averages at five liters per 100 kilometers, or 47 MPG in U.S. measurement units.
Trim-wise, the new Civic is identical to its cousins from other markets. Available options include a 10.2-inch digital dash, 9-inch infotainment system display, 12-speaker Bose audio, a plethora of electronic assists, and up to 11 airbags.
