Sales of the updated Honda Civic line will soon begin in countries across Europe. For the first time in the history of Civic, you can buy it diesel-powered with an automatic transmission.
The vehicle is driven by a 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine rated at 120 hp (90 kW), coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission by ZF.
This transmission is well-known to us, since it ships with a variety of other Honda vehicles: the UR-V, Odyssey and Avancier, diesel CR-V SUVs, and higher trims of the Honda Pilot SUV.
The main distinguishing feature of the ZF 9HP is its ability to skip speeds quickly and precisely (useful when you need to reduce the gear from 8 to, say, 4).
The diesel-powered Honda Civic 9HP accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 11 seconds and can ultimately reach 200 km/h. It consumes 4.1 liters of fuel in normal driving cycle (corresponds to 69 MPG in the UK and 57.3 MPG in the USA).
Both the sedan and the hatchback variant of the vehicle are already available for pre-ordering.
