Honda spruces up the Civic Type R

The Honda Civic Type R series has received a number of tweaks heading into 2020. Let us have a better look at them.

From the stylistic point of view, the hot hatch looks much like the latest Civic Si and the regular Civic, the only apparent differences being the larger radiator grille and the new paint option (Boost Blue).

Things get a bit more interesting in the tech department. The main novelty arrives in the form of better, stronger brakes, and shock absorbers all around have been tweaked for extra comfort in non-sport modes. Certain changes were reportedly also made in the front axle suspension.

Moving on into the cabin, the gear selector now has shorter travel, and the steering wheel comes wrapped in leather. The audio system can now automatically switch presets based on the current driving mode.

The trims have also been revised, with some markets getting the Honda Sensing safety system in the base spec.

The only available engine remains unchanged, but this is perhaps not too bad, considering that it is a 2.0-liter TSI rated at 320 hp (239 kW) and 400 Nm (295 of torque). Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, it accelerates the Civic Type R from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds.
