The next generation of the Honda Civic Type R has yet to debut, but is already taking awards at racing circuits. The compact ride hit the Suzuka Raceway the other day and finished it in 2 minutes 32.12 seconds, surpassing its previous generation by almost a whole second.
At certain parts of the lap, the CTR was able to accelerate to 230 km/h (143 mph). In the end, the hot Japanese hatch set a new record among FWD vehicles on the Suzuka track, dethroning the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R.
Powering the new Civic Type R is a modernized 2.0-liter petrol engine with so far undisclosed specifications. The old version pumped out 316 PS (312 hp / 232 kW) in its Europe spec and slightly less than that in other specs.
