Honda launched the official promotional campaign for its new Civic Type R in last October, and the car will finally debut live on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, USA on July 1, 2022.
The reveal will take place during a stage of the IndyCar Series championship. A cladded prototype will enter the racetrack and make several laps before retiring.
This will mark the first public appearance of the next-gen Type R in North America, but not its first time on track. Spies have already posted some Nürburgring footage featuring the Type R, and the manufacturer itself released an official video where a pre-production vehicle sets a new record on the Suzuka Raceway in Japan.
Rumor has it the hot hatch packs a part-electric drivetrain with 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW). For our part, we would sooner expect an improved version of the current-gen turbocharged four-cylinder engine instead.
