Honda keeps up the excitement around the new Civic Type R with a video delving into the secrets of its production and assembly.
As you can see, the welding and the painting are mostly performed by robots, but the finishing stages involve plenty of manual work. The footage provides a valuable insight into the assembly processes of the drivetrain, chassis, brakes, exhaust system and interior elements.
Once the paint shop is done, QA kicks in. The employees go over every unit and component to ensure everything is up to par with the spec sheet. Before the car can be delivered, though, a test driver gets in and does a few rounds in it carefully listening for any unwanted noises. Should a loose screw fall into the space between the door panels, for example, it will be exposed and removed before the customer can complain about the rattling.
Honda said it would keep the production of the Type R capped at 400 monthly units.
