Honda Performance Development has shared the first images showing a camouflaged track-only version of the Civic Type R, which is currently being co-designed with JAS Motorsport Italy for the TCR International Series.
The touring car is disguised well enough to prevent us from seeing most of the changed details, leaving only the large front splitter and rear wing exposed. Still, we expect the 2.0-liter turbo four-pot under the hood to largely remain stock, although modifications could be made to comply with the regulations and maximize the durability. As well, the sports car will debut with transmission upgrades, tweaked electronics and performance brakes. A new racing-focused dashboard will appear in the cabin, too.
The Civic racer will hit the track for the first time at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge scheduled for April 2023.
