Honda CR-V for Europe arrives in two hybrid flavors

The sixth generation of the Honda CR-V made its debut in the United States last summer and has now finally arrived in Europe as well. The presentation took place at a special event in Germany.

In its U.S. spec, the CR-V comes equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol turbo-four mill rated at 193 PS (190 hp / 142 kW) and an updated hybrid powertrain based on a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with 207 PS (204 hp / 152 kW). In Europe, all non-hybrid CR-V variants dropped out of sale as soon as the previous generation received its planned update in 2020. The newcomer stays true to the same formula and even introduces a plug-in hybrid option for the first time on record.

The CR-V e:HEV is a range-extended hybrid with a petrol engine and two electric motor. The CR-V e:PHEV is nearly identical to it, but benefits from a larger traction battery. With the battery full, it has 82 km (51 miles) of all-electric range. Charging it from zero to full takes two and a half hours.

On the outside, both versions look indistinguishable unless you look closely at the radiator grille design. The base trim level already includes the Honda Sensing 360 driving assist suite. Sales in Europe are set to begin later this year, but all cars will be imported from the United States because Honda stopped its production lines in the UK.
