Honda e to emerge in two versions

Honda has released photos and specs of its electric hatchback called simply the ā€˜e’. The car will debut at the IAA Frankfurt show next week.

Based on the Urban EV Concept, the production-issue Honda e has preserved all the main features of its prototype. This includes a charging socket located in the hood cover, video cameras acting as side mirrors, original round headlights encircled in DRLs, and an ultra-wide digital dash inside the cabin. Unlike the concept, the production car has five doors instead of three.

Customers in Europe will be able to choose between two electric engines for their Honda e: 136 hp (100 kW) and 154 hp (115 kW). The only available drive type is RWD, and the traction battery comes rated at 35.5 kWh, which should be enough for 220 km (137 miles) of uninterrupted driving. Sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) succeeds in 8 seconds.

Standard and available equipment includes an AI assistant, a five-display multimedia system, a virtual key fob, and a remote access service that enables collecting maintenance and troubleshooting data from the car via the Internet.

First shipments will begin in the spring of 2020.
