Honda sets production rate for its ‘e’ subcompact to 10,000/year

Japanese carmaker Honda plans to ship 10,000 units of its new all-electric subcompact hatchback – the ‘e’ – per year.

When the company discontinued its Logo model in Europe, it has thus essentially abandoned the compact car market there (with the Honda Jazz remaining the last model still on offer). The ‘e’ may help it gain some ground there again.

The Honda e debuted during the still-open Frankfurt Motor Show 2019. The company claims it has received over 40,000 pre-orders of the car.

Prices start from €29,500 in Germany, with a better performing version available for €32,500. Both come equipped with the same 35.5 kWh battery model that supports charging from zero to 80% within 30 minutes. The maximum driving range equals 220 km (136 miles) for all versions.
