Honda has introduced the third generation of its HR-V crossover in Japan. The model will eventually trickle down to all major markets except the USA, which will be getting its own special version.
It appears obvious that the design team went for a ‘clean’ look this time around, rounding off corners and straightening creases. The radiator grille now appears to merge with the front bumper and sit in a frame composed of slim headlights and LED DRLs.
A broad light strip connects the taillights in the back. The E:HEV badge and blue Honda logo hint at the presence of a hybrid powertrain underneath.
The new HR-V for Japan keeps the coupe-like roof and the hidden door handles of its predecessor. A two-piece panoramic roof makes the interior appear larger, and a large vent spanning the entire width of the dashboard ensures proper ventilation, too. An infotainment tablet is also present.
The international premiere is expected to follow later this year.
