Honda was among the last automakers in Europe to concede to electrification, but at least we now know that it will be happening. One of the first production EVs with a Honda badge on will arrive next year; we know it as the e: Ny1.
If the name sounds somewhat familiar, it is because Honda unveiled two concepts last year named the e: NS1 and e: NP1. Both were meant for production at Dongfeng and GAC JSC factories in China, and neither was introduced as an international model.
In contrast, the e: Ny1 seems to be designed primarily for Europe. It looks much like the latest HR-V, sans combustion engine. Both SUVs will join the company of the recently introduced Civic Hybrid.
In other news, Honda announced that the new CR-V generation would be coming to Europe in 2023 powered by a plug-in powertrain. All models listed above should cement Honda’s intention to abolish IC engines in the Old World countries by the end of the next decade.
