Honda HR-V reveals face for the USA

Honda has shared photos of the new HR-V crossover for the North American market, and it looks noticeably different from its European and Japanese cousins.

The overseas edition of the HR-V rolls on the same platform as the 11th-gen Civic. Compared to its European relative, it features different bumpers, radiator grille and lighting all around, as well as a larger spoiler.

It also has independent suspension on the rear axle and a more responsible engine, which Honda claims improves acceleration. There are no specific numbers to back it up, though. Supposing it came powered by the standard U.S.-spec Civic engine, it would mean either a 2.0-liter non-turbo mill rated at 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) or a 1.5-liter turbo good for 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW). The range-topping Civic Si makes use of a turbo four-pot with 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW).

The new HR-V should reach the showrooms this summer.
