Honda has come up with a very unusual children’s toy called Sound Sitter. The plush car does its best to imitate the sound produced by the engine of the Honda NSX supercar. According to the manufacturer, the purring sound produces a calming effect on babies.
You can turn the volume up or down using a remote control. The monotonous, low-frequency whirr the toy car makes is reportedly similar to the sounds babies hear when still in their mothers’ bellies.
Interestingly, Honda has concluded numerous tests involving all kinds of engines, including those of the S2000, Prelude and Integra. However, the results clearly showed that the new NSX supercar had by far the best sound pattern of all (i.e., closest to what a child hears in the mother’s womb).
The current generation of Honda NSX comes equipped with a hybrid powertrain that includes three electric motors and a 3.5-liter, twin-turbo gasoline engine. Its total output exceeds 570 hp (425 kW).
