Honda has shared its electrification strategy for the rest of the 2020s, stressing that it planned to offer up to 30 all-electric vehicles in various market segments worldwide. It also posted a teaser with two rather intriguing battery sports cars.
Motor1 believes one of these vehicles may be envisioned as a successor to the NSX. Honda intends to devise individual EV lineups for all of its primary markets: for instance, the USA will receive two electric SUVs co-designed with General Motors. One of them will be a mid-size crossover with a Honda badge on it, while the other one is envisioned as a full-size Acura SUV. The company has already mentioned these before, though.
Ten more models will be developed specifically for China, and Honda expects to launch two new factories to satisfy the demand. In Japan, a small commercial van priced attractively under ¥1,000,000 (around $8,000) will appear, and a few more compact MPVs and SUVs are set to follow later on.
As for the already announced sports cars – one of them a gran tourer and the other one a top-of-the-line supercar – these will be released globally and be available in most countries. Unfortunately, this is all we know about these still unnamed models.
Overall, Honda plans to move up to 2,000,000 EVs annually by the late 2020s. It will be investing up to ¥8,000,000,000,000 into it (around $64,000,000,000).
