Legendary Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina joined forces with JAS Motorsport to present the Tensei, a limited-edition supercar named after the Japanese word for “rebirth”. It may look like a refreshed 1991 Honda NSX, but the body, chassis and engine seem to be completely new.
While some details are still pending, we already know that the Tensei features full carbon-fiber bodywork sculpted with additional air vents and curves not found on the original coupe. At the same time, things like pop-up headlights and a big rear wing at the back make it instantly recognizable as an NSX-inspired model.
Power is supplied by an unspecified “Honda V6” mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The numbers aren’t there yet, but they are guaranteed to be more impressive than the original’s best 294 PS (290 hp / 216 kW) only extracted by certain later NSX modifications from 3.2 liters of displacement.
Prices are also private. Customers can choose between right-hand and left-hand drive. There are no interior images yet, and we imagine much of the cabin will be customizable, anyway.
The first generation of the Honda NSX – known in North America as the Acura NSX – came out in 1991 and stayed in production until 2006 (see video).
