Sales of the facelifted Honda Pilot series have started in the United States. The amount of changes could be called underwhelming: there are a few purely aesthetic modifications and little novelty under the hood.
The front bumper of the refreshed Honda Pilot now wears fang-like black moldings, the lower air intake is smaller, and there are changes in the rear lighting layout and bumper design. LED lighting is available in the base version, but you can opt for a more expensive LED set with a “diamond effect”.
The interior of the vehicle greets with a seven-inch digital instrument panel, an up-to-date infotainment system with smartphone support, a 4G modem and a Wi-Fi hotspot. There is a new steering wheel and armrests, and the infotainment screens for the rear passengers are now larger. The driver and passengers can talk to each other using headsets, loudspeakers and microphones. This feature is called CabinTalk and stems from the Honda Odyssey minivan.
The base model of Honda Pilot ships with an entire range of safety-oriented systems such as traffic sign recognition, lane control, emergency brake, and adaptive cruise control.
The engine palette remained the same, but the nine-speed automatic transmission has been reworked. The vehicle can now start from the second gear and switch gears smoother and faster.
A 2019 Honda Pilot can be purchased in the USA starting at $31,450.
