Honda has once again revised its mid-term and long-term strategy to deliver a brand-new EV to North America in just two years and expand its presence on the other markets as well.
Earlier plans included a paragraph about a brand-new electric car the company was planning to design and produce on its e:Architecture platform by the year 2026. The revised schedule pushes the debut forward to 2025.
In addition to this change, Honda confirmed that the Prologue and Acura ZDX models it co-designed with General Motors would be ready to ship as soon as 2024. Three years after that, the GM-Honda joint enterprise plans to switch its primary attention to producing cheaper EVs. The plans to build a new traction battery plant in Ohio are still in force.
In turn, customers in China will get all-electric cars so far known only as the e:NS2 and e:NP2, as well as the production version of the e:N SUV Concept. By 2027, the Chinese branch of Honda hopes to have seven new battery car models on the market.
The one thing that went unmentioned was the manufacturer’s announcement of two new sports cars made last year. The company had intended to introduce coupes under Honda and Acura badges, but we haven’t heard about either since then.
