The Fast & Furious franchise has showered us with superb examples of flashy custom cars, and this shrill pink Honda S2000 is everyone’s favorite, too. Let us see what Doug DeMuro has to say about the roadster after trying it out firsthand.
Doug starts with praising the excellent paintjob that the crew painstakingly applied by hand in multiple passes. Even 17 years after the movie premiere, the paint coat looks fresh – a lamentably rare quality by modern car standards.
Similarly well done is the body kit, perhaps not the most intricate or well thought out, but stylish in its own way and securely fastened to the car body. The interior is a different story altogether, though.
See those suede-covered seats, door panels, center console and gear selector housing? This is no suede. Apparently, he filming crew used cheap bathmats to trim the cabin! Given that the interior only has a few seconds of screen time in the movie, this probably was the most logical and cost-conscious thing to do, anyway. But the rest is not much better: check out the obviously fake instruments and the low-definition display, and the overall impression is rather sad.
The last point of examination was the engine. Doug discovered that, while this Honda S2000 was supercharged for more thrust, it still falls a bit short of being a pleasant vehicle to drive.
