Petite Honda S2000 morphs into a 500-PS electric car

Few would dare tinker with the success formula of the Honda S2000, one of Japan’s most iconic sports cars. Rywire Motorsports Electronics went all in, though, and reimagined it as an EV.

The car uses a Tesla motor powered by dual Chevy Volt traction batteries. The rear wheels get hit with 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW), and the driving range is estimated between 160-193 km (100-120 miles). A Quaife LSD is used in the transmission.

In addition to the all-new powertrain, the roadster now has a drastically different exterior with a new front bumper, grille and hubcaps. The aero caps should enable it to cover more ground on a charge, but they look unappealing at best.

The interior draws attention to new red and black Sparco seats and a 3D-printed gear selection knob. The dashboard is digital and displays some additional data, such as battery voltage and temperature.
