The Honda S2000 is beyond doubt an automotive icon, but you should never let that circumstance prevent you from actually driving it – at least, this is what Instagram user pepdoesit tells us with his rat rod conversion.
He obtained an older S2000 and decided to restore it on a new chassis by Village Customs. The original four-pot engine also went away, making room for what looks like an eight-banger. The engine bay and the whole front end were allowed to stay exposed without any bodywork in the way, resulting in a distinct ‘rat rod’ aesthetic.
Rounding off the styling effort are huge, thin multi-spoke rollers wrapped in thin tires at the front and meaty tires at the rear – the rear wheels actually rise above the trunk lid. Despite the controversial looks, the car is reportedly fully drivable and goes great – although, as one would expect, it has precious little of the original S2000 character remaining.
