Honda extends S660 production before dropping it off

Honda will be issuing another production batch of the S660 Roadster for Japan before it shuts down the lines. 650 more units will be made, and a lottery will determine who gets to buy the last 50.

The original plans provided for a production end in March 2022, but continued interest towards the car made Honda reconsider them. Apparently, the company received plenty of requests and complaints from people who were unable to buy one before the discontinuation. Having said this, the final batch will be limited in size due to parts shortage, and Honda says it will definitely drop the S660 from production afterwards.

Out of the 650 total units, 600 will be distributed among dealerships, prioritizing those with registered customer pre-orders. The right to buy the remaining 50 will be assigned via a draw held until December 5. Honda will announce the winners of the draw ten days after its completion. Prices will begin at ¥2,031,700.

The Japanese carmaker originally announced the end of the S660 era this spring, causing a surge of panic with customers sweeping the model off the showroom floors and pre-ordering the rest of the remaining batch within a few weeks.
