Hongqi E-QM5 breaks cover in China, set to ship in spring

Hongqi has come to the Haikou Mobility Show with a sedan-shaped E-QM5, an electric vehicle due out this spring.

The car makes do without the company’s latest-and-greatest FAW FME platform. Instead, it relies on the older platform of the gas-powered H5 model (see video) with McPherson struts at the front end and multi-link suspension at the rear. It is 5,040 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,569 mm tall with 2,990 mm between the axles.

A single electric motor drives the front axle with 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW), and NEDC-rated driving range amounts to 431 kilometers (267 miles). The car also looks a bit like the Bestune B², which shouldn’t be surprising since like Bestune, Hongqi is a part of the FAW Group.

Inside, there is an analog gauge cluster and an infotainment display of unspecified size. Rear seat occupants get their own HVAC controls and comfortable footrests.
