Hongqi unveils three concepts at once

Chinese premium automaker Hongqi has posted images of as many as three new vehicles it is ultimately planning to start producing en masse, AutoHome reports.

The Hongqi Sedan EV is a B-Class electric car prototype. Judging by the sketches, it comes equipped with doors swinging open upwards and a giant display spanning the entire dashboard. It can also sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in three seconds flat and cover up to 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) on a charge. In addition to conventional charging, the car is simultaneously envisioned with swappable battery packs and wireless charging support. Mere five minutes of charging with a cable will replenish up to 350 km (217 miles) of range, Hongqi says. The production car based on this concept is scheduled to arrive in 2023.

Next in line is the Hongqi EV, a cabriolet-bodied SUV sporting a boxy appearance and a vivid finish. Its parameters remain to be revealed, but the company plans to launch it a year after the Sedan EV.

In 2025, the automaker plans to introduce an electric flagship SUV based on the E-LS Concept found in the last two pictures in our gallery here. This one features suicide rear doors and intricately designed LED lights all around. The interior is dominated by a huge horizontal display, and the front row only has the driver’s seat in it. The front passenger’s seat has been replaced with an ottoman.

In its production guise, the E-LS will feature intelligent adaptive air suspension, smart AWD and 4WS. Earlier sketches previewed a new platform designed by Hongqi, which had its wheels rotated 90 degrees to the side, possibly indicating that the SUV will be able to go sideways in tight spots.

According to Hongqi, all three vehicles are based on a common new “superintelligent” architecture which is still under development.
