Hongqi unwraps its next luxury saloon

Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT has published the photos of Hongqi’s latest sedan, the H6. The model is nearly five meters (16.4 feet) long and comes equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine available in two boost variants.

The spec sheet says the body is 4,990 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,455 mm tall. The wheelbase length amounts to 2,920 mm. From the visual perspective, the H6 resembles the ‘junior’ H5 model (see video), which is roughly the same size. Abundant chrome and tailpipes grouped in the middle of the rear end prompt the assumption that the H6 will be marketed as a sports car.

The same can be said about its engine lineup. The H6 will ship with the same 2.0-liter TFSI engine that the H5 gets access to only in the highest trim levels. The standard version produces 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque. Opting for a boosted version gives you 252 PS (248 hp / 188 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The curb weight lies within 1,628–1,665 kilograms (3,589–3,670 pounds).

The launch date and prices remain to be announced. The Hongqi H5 costs from 159,800 to 225,800 Yuan in China, and the H6 shapes up to be its more expensive alternative.
