Hongqi announces a production bus

Hongqi, a Chinese vehicle brand specializing in luxury cars, has unexpectedly decided to expand its product lineup with a medium-sized bus called Guoyue. It is slated to go on sale in March this year, Autohome.com reports.

The bus is sized 7,295 x 2,090 x 2,785 mm with 3,900 mm between the axles. Its tiered headlights and the signature Hongqi radiator grille pattern make it look like the company’s other recent models on the market.

There will be versions with 17, 19 and 23 seats to choose from. Regardless of your chosen trim level, the Guoyue will ship with a leather-wrapped driver seat, armrests, adjustable seat backs and a ceiling-mounted TV screen. The top trim will add a fridge and a desktop for working, among other things.

The driver gets a two-display ensemble comprising a small digital dash screen and a 10.25-inch head unit. All power is sourced from a 3.0-liter V8 sending 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels through an eight-speed AT. Hongqi says the top speed is capped at 130 km/h (80 mph).
