The Hongqi E115, a luxury electric SUV with self-driving capabilities, will hit production later this year, a number of Chinese media report.
The car, which was co-designed by ex-Rolls Royce designer Giles Taylor, will mostly stay true to its concept version in terms of looks. This will include the U-shaped radiator grille and the narrow-slit headlights.
The manufacturer still doesn’t reveal the production specs of the upcoming E115. The prototype packed dual electric motors, could accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under four seconds, and covered 600 kilometers (373 miles) before depleting its batteries.
That said, Hongqi might want to standardize the car tech with its existing H9 sedan/saloon model. If so, then the E115 may also receive a gas-powered version with a DSG transmission and 270 hp (209 kW) under the hood.
