Hongqi complemented its family of electric cars with a new executive sedan called the E-QM5 last year (see video). The model, which was marketed towards senior state officials, is now available in a range-boosted version called Plus.
The sedan has a tall roof and rather modest-sized wheel rims, creating the false impression of a compact and affordable car if you just look at photos. In reality, though, it is 5,040 mm (~197 inches) long with 2,990 mm (116.8 inches) between the axles.
The chauffeured saloon has the exec seat at the right side of the second row. It offers plenty of legroom, a dedicated HVAC panel and a footrest, among other such excesses. The driver’s seat, in contrast, is rather basic.
Powering the ride is a 190-PS (187-hp / 140-kW) electric motor receiving its juice from an 82-kWh battery pack. NEDC-rated driving range amounts to 605 kilometers, or 375 miles, a substantial improvement over the previously available 431 km (268 miles). Then again, the standard-range variant is still on sale, too.
