Chinese premium vehicle brand Hongqi will expand its product lineup with a pair of SUVs targeting different market sectors, AutoHome reports referencing the patent images recently uploaded into the IT Ministry database.
Dubbed the HS3 and HS6, the vehicles will drastically differ in size, but use the same turbocharged engine for propulsion. Judging by the model designation the HS3 may end up one of the marque’s most affordable vehicles despite its size (L: 4,655 mm, W: 1,900 mm, H: 1,668 mm, WB: 2,770 mm).
On the outside, the H3 sports a massive radiator grille typical of Hongqi models, while the headlights are more rounded than we are used to, not unlike those on the H6 liftback.
The only engine announced for both SUVs so far is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot making 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW). AutoHome believes that a 1.5-liter engine with 169 PS (167 hp / 124 kW) may be made available later on as well, since FAW Group puts it in many production cars for the domestic market.
The HS6 is much larger still at 4,995 mm long with 2,920 mm of wheelbase. It comes in five-, six- and seven-seat flavors.
The sales are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2023.
