As evidenced by these spy shots, Chinese premium automaker Hongqi has taken four different prototypes to the streets. Among them is a performance sedan, a full-size SUV and a couple of compact SUVs.
The H6 seems to be a sported-up version of the recently facelifted Hongqi H5 sedan. We are using ‘sported-up’ here because it looks like the changes will be purely aesthetic, restricted to a more aggressive rear end and an upmarket trim inside the cabin. As for the engines, we expect them to be the same as in the H5, which implies petrol turbo mills rated up to 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW).
The HS3 is shaping up to be a modest-sized, gas-powered crossover. The HS5 is not a new model, probably just getting a facelift. Compared to the car on sale right now, the new HS5 sports a different exterior complete with Hongqi’s latest radiator grille design. It could still be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.
Rounding off the quartet is the HS6, a crossover SUV with a minivan-like body shape. This one is expected to reach the market in six- and seven-seat variants with a large vertical display inside the cabin and a new PHEV powertrain based on a 2.0-liter engine. The all-electric range is rumored to be fairly high at 85 kilometers (53 miles).
