Hoonigan Industries, a company founded by the late Ken Block, is collecting signatures under a petition requesting a new national holiday to commemorate the dearly departed rally driver. The proposed date – April 3 – references Block’s racecar’s number, 43.
According to the initiators of the petition, the ‘4 3 Day’, as they call it, would be a proper way to pay respects to the legend that was Ken Block. The driver’s fans from all around the world are called upon for their support, too.
It is unknown what this national holiday would look like, but CarBuzz believes it would do nicely as an ‘international motorsports day’ with plenty of racing, drift driving and stunt driving involved.
The World Rally Championship (WRC) ceased using the side number 43 since Block’s demise at the beginning of the year. The ban was introduced for this year’s season only, but it may later be prolonged.
A racer and stunt driver, the founder of the famous Gymkhana series and promoter of all things related to motorsports, Ken Block passed away on January 2, 2023 when his snowmobile tipped over.
