Hozon Neta L specs leak ahead of premiere

Chinese carmaker Hozon Auto will be introducing a mid-size electric SUV named Neta L on the domestic market next year. In the meantime, its certification shots have already made it online, Car News China reports.

The spec sheet states that the Neta L will be available as a pure battery EV and as a range-extender hybrid using its petrol engine to provide extra power to the main motors.

The same car was known as the EP32 during pre-production tests. It is based on the same Shanhai architecture as the S sedan (see video) and the GT coupe. The overall design is the same, but not without its quirks, like bigger headlights and a different lower grille pattern.

The Neta L is sized 4,770 x 1,900 x 1,660 mm with 2,810 mm of wheelbase and 18-inch/19-inch wheels. The interior remains to be revealed.

Based on the data submitted to the patent database so far, the new SUV will utilize a single e-motor capable of 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW). According to Car News China, it may be mounted at the rear axle like in the S and GT models. The LiFePo4 battery pack supplier is SVOLT, a subsidiary of the Great Wall Motor Co.

A 1.5-liter petrol engine is also mentioned in the specs. It delivers 91 PS (90 hp / 67 kW), but acts solely as a power generator. The range-extender Neta L has a 30-kWh battery pack and a stated all-electric range of 164 km (102 miles).

The prices are expected to lie within the range of 150,000–250,000 Yuan (U.S. $21,000–35,000).
