Human Horizons, a budding carmaker from Shanghai, has only recently shown us its HiPhi X Concept (see video), but as these patent shots evidence, it is already working on another model.
There is no telling whether the car pictured is a design study, a concept or a production model. What we see is an all-electric sports car with a complex body design and gimmicky video cameras instead of side mirrors. While the HiPhi X obviously targets the same market niche as the Tesla Model X, the newcomer looks like a potential rival to the Model S. We wouldn’t even be surprised if it were called “HiPhi S”.
Also seen on the images are an aerodynamic kit, lighting, and doors without handles – looks like the doors will only swing out automatically. The rear two doors swing open against the traffic, by the way.
Technical details remain unknown, but the X model comes powered by dual electric motors rated at 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW) and 820 Nm (610 lb-ft) of torque. Its range amounts to 550 km (342 miles) according to the outdated NEDC standard.
