After introducing a crossover SUV laconically named ‘X’ in 2021 and following up on it with a sedan called ‘Z’ in 2022, automaker Human Horizons presented the Y Concept at this year’s Shanghai Auto Expo. The third entry in the HiPhi lineup is now fully revealed and ready to go on sale next month.
With a starting price of just 369,000 CNY (around 51,500 USD), the car is the most affordable of the three models mentioned above. The company hopes that it will also enjoy the best sales out of the three thanks to a more traditional design appealing to a broader audience.
The interior seats five people. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital dash to look at, there is a tablet-shaped multimedia screen 17 inches large, and the front passenger gets yet another display with 15 inches of diagonal size. If that’s still not enough for you, a HUD is available under options.
In its single-motor spec, the HiPhi Y is a rear-wheel-drive crossover with 336 PS (331 hp / 247 kW) of electric power at the wheels. The driving range amounts to 560 km (348 miles) according to the standard currently adopted in China, but paying extra will get you a long-range version with 810 km (503 miles) of range in it.
Going for the flagship version nets you dual e-motors, all-wheel drive and a combined 505 PS (498 hp / 371 kW).
