Human Horizons ponders a cheaper HiPhi Z for city dwellers

China-based automotive startup Human Horizons plans to release a new, more affordably priced variant of its HiPhi Z EV. According to CarNewsChina, it will be dubbed ‘City Version’ and start from 500,000 Yuan, which is 110,000 Yuan less than the current base price.

The exterior will stay the same except for minor trim bits, like LED strips on the doors. Inside, all major in-car features will be accessible through a 15.5-inch infotainment display.

For the powertrain, the car will still rely on its usual twin motors making 672 PS (663 hp / 494 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque. With all four wheels driven, it will reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 3.8 seconds and reach a top acceleration of 200 km/h (124 mph).

Unlike the standard HiPhi Z (see video) with its 120 kWh of power storage, the City Version will get a 90-kWh traction battery. This will reduce its driving range from 700 to just 535 km (from 435 to 333 miles, respectively).
