South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has revealed the final name of its entry-level, subcompact crossover/SUV that is being marketed as a cheaper alternative to the Kona. The car is called “Venue”.
The company says the model primarily targets young urban businesspeople who prefer cars with a unique style.
You can interpret the word “venue” as a “place where people meet”, or, in other words, a place where you want others to notice you. This is exactly the idea behind the new mini crossover. Hyundai generally uses different naming conventions for its other cars. For instance, the Palisade SUV bears the name of an area in the coastal Los-Angeles.
The Hyundai Venue will inherit the Kona platform, but its design will be markedly different – less smooth, boxier and more muscular.
The car will enjoy its international premiere at the New York Motor Show next month.
