Hyundai to release a brand-new, all-electric SUV

According to various sources, Hyundai is working on a completely new, all-electric crossover SUV it might release as early as 2021. Before you discount this news as yet another unconfirmed rumor, though, note that Hyundai just struck a cooperation deal with Rimac to design a produce a battery-powered sports car that would complement its N range. With this in mind, the SUV might turn out quite real after all.

While the Kona Electric was based on the regular gasoline-chugging Kona, the upcoming BEV will likely take advantage of the new E-GMP architecture (Electric-Global Modular Platform).

Preliminary estimations place the newcomer into the compact SUV category. It will likely offer 450 kilometers (280 miles) of driving range – 35 km / 22 mi more than the Kona Electric – and will occupy the market niche directly above it.

Let us wait for what Hyundai and Rimac may have to say on the matter, though.
