Hyundai teases a hydrogen-powered semi truck concept

The Hyundai HDC-6 Neptune Concept, which draws its name from the Roman mythical sea god and comes powered by hydrogen fuel cells, will be unveiled in Atlanta on October 29, 2019.

Not much is being revealed about the mysterious newcomer, except for these two teaser pics. The company says the design of the car draws inspiration from the General Motors Streamliner and Futurliner trucks dating back to the 1930s.

The interior sketch shows what looks like a futuristic cabin with sensor displays instead of physical controls, video cameras instead of side mirrors, and a huge HUD for displaying all kinds of important information.

No tech specs are being provided, and it remains unknown just whether the semi will ever reach production. Hyundai does mention that it will be simultaneously revealing a refrigerator truck concept called the HT Nitro ThermoTech, co-designed with the company’s San Diego subsidiary specializing in semi trucks and chassis designs.
