Hyundai’s all-new MPV spied without camo

Today’s shaping up to be the Spy Day, don’t you think? After repeated sightings of a brand-new Hyundai-branded minivan prototype in China and South Korea, yet another one has been spotted today – but this time without any disguise and with a visible interior, too!

The shots came from China. Industry observers expect the car to be called Custo, suggested by the latest trademark registered in that country by Beijing-Hyundai joint enterprise. The MPV has the enormous radiator grille of the Hyundai Grandeur, LED-based lighting, side mirrors mounted on supports, and sliding rear doors. Unfortunately, the photographer did not capture the rear end.

A vertical central display inside reminds of the second-gen Hyundai ix25 SUV, while the steering wheel comes from the latest Elantra and Sonata. The instrument cluster is digital, and a button console comes to replace the gear lever.

It appears likely that the MPV will be available in six- and seven-seat versions. From the technical point of view, it may be based on the fourth-gen Kia Carnival.

The car should debut later this year, quite likely at the 2020 Auto China Show in September.
