Hyundai may have enough compact-sized SUVs for everyone – ranging from the Venue for the USA and India to the upcoming Bayon – but the company still feels comfortable expanding its lineup. The latest spy shots reveal yet another Hyundai mini-CUV provisionally known as the AX-1.
Rumor has it that the newcomer will ship with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine and an all-electric powertrain, although the latter will only be available on the domestic market. It looks like Southeastern Asia will be the main target region, but perhaps Hyundai will find some demand in other countries as well.
The disguise seems to conceal production-ready bodywork and lights, meaning that the model should be close to production. Judging by the photos showing it stuck in snow, however, it does not appear at home away from well-paved roads.
