Hyundai bringing its aerial car to the Farnborough Airshow

Hyundai will hold a presentation dedicated to its all-electric VTOL prototype at the Farnborough International Airshow opening on July 18, 2022.

The eVTOL will be revealed by Korean tech company Supernal. Its parameters remain undisclosed, but the manufacturer claims it intends to have a whole aerial taxi network up and running in six years.

At a CES-2020 in Las Vegas, the company demonstrated a similar project co-designed with Uber – you can see it in the gallery and the video here. That vehicle looked like a crude design mockup, and its characteristics were never mentioned.

It is assumed that the Hyundai/Supernal eVTOL will be able to carry five passengers and accelerate to a top flight speed of 300 km/h (186 miles per hour). In the distant future, the company intends to equip all its taxis with fully autonomous piloting tech.

Autoevolution reports that the marque also partnered up with the government of Miami, USA this spring. Engineers and authorities will now unite efforts to adapt the current legislation to the new means of aerial mobility and to discuss the integration of aerial vehicles into the existing infrastructure.
