Hyundai Stargazer shows up on teasers

Hyundai has shared preview images of its new Stargazer compact van for Southeastern Asia markets. The single-spacer should debut next month and go into production in Indonesia.

As you can see, the model is styled similarly to the Staria van with a wide LED stripe spanning the entire front end. The rear end evokes associations with the Hyundai Bison, a compact crossover SUV.

In all likelihood, the Stargazer gets its chassis from the Kia Carens seven-seater, which in turn is a modified Seltos for India. The same market also has a three-row SUV named Alcazar on offer, which is essentially just a stretched Creta.

At 4.5 meters long, the new Stargazer MPV will be configurable with six or seven seats. Like the Kia Carens, it will ship with a 1.4-liter engine and two larger 1.5-liter engines running on petrol and diesel. The drive is unlikely to be anywhere but the front axle, as usual.

Prices in India are expected to lie within the range of 15.5 – 20.2 Indonesian Rupiah (U.S. $10,450 – $13,620). Later on, the compact van may become available in India as well.
