Photos featuring the all-new Hyundai Lafesta sedan free from any kind of test mule camouflage have recently leaked online ahead of its 2018 premiere.
The original Hyundai Lafesta Concept debuted at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show in spring. New photos of the vehicle have recently been uploaded to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT.
Based on what can be seen, the four-door sedan will reach production with most of its initial Beijing design intact. It will be available in two variants, one with a ribbed and the other with a cellular radiator grille. The former will also ship with exhaust pipes hidden under the bottom.
An unconfirmed source claims the new Hyundai Lafesta uses the Elantra architecture. This might be true, since both cars have the same 2,700 mm (8.87 ft.) long wheelbase, although Lafesta is 50 mm (2”) longer.
The Chinese version of the car will ship with a choice between a 1.4L and a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine, manufacturer-rated at 140 hp (104 kW) and 190 – 204 hp (142 – 152 kW), respectively. All engines will work in conjunction with semi-automatic transmission.
It is still unclear whether Hyundai is planning to sell the Lafesta outside of China. The launch is scheduled for November or December 2018.
