Hyundai has posted the first official images of its Alcazar SUV, essentially a stretched seven-seat version of the Creta crossover for the Indian market.
Alcazar’s wheelbase is only slightly longer than Creta’s, while the rear overhang is much larger to accommodate an extra seat bank. The seven-seater version will ship as standard, but well-off customers will be able to specify a six-seater with individual seats in the second row.
The Alcazar sports a new radiator grille, bumpers and wheels. It draws its name from palaces built across Portugal and Spain during the Arab reign of the Middle Ages.
The powertrains will remain exactly the same. This includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a turbo diesel both rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW), as well as a 1.4-liter turbo-four good for 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW). Customers will be able to choose from six-speed manual, seven-speed DCT, and CVT for the transmission.
The premiere will take place on April 6, 2021. Once the Alcazar hits the showrooms, it will have to fight for buyers’ money with the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari. There is no news regarding its availability outside of India.
